THE ANOMALIES ISSUE
An anomaly is an exception to the rule: an event or measurement that is out of the ordinary, an out lier on a data set that can indicate potential problems. An anomaly can also be a breath of fresh air in a sea of conformity.
In design, anomalies push boundaries. They have the power to change our perception on standards of aesthetics and beauty. Anomalies allow for innovation to happen, they create new trends and make that which is perceived as quirky or odd cool and covetable.
At ICRAVE, we like anomalies! Because we crafting experiences and designing spaces that disrupt industry standards with the intention of bettering human experiences, we think anomalies within the field are worth exploring. We are therefore dedicating the next three months to Anomalies. Throughout this issue, we will talk about the how Anomalies play a critical role in design. We will look inwards and discuss how ICRAVE Innovating through Anomalies within the healthcare and travel sectors, we will look at the Ordinary Spaces within the City that inspire us because they resist change, the Accidental Icons of NYC, and we will even Make Cake, eat it, then write about it.
