The Islands Issue
Welcome to The Chop, an editorial platform documenting the curiosities that inspire ICRAVE, a design and innovation studio located in Manhattan. Over the past year, we have been collecting content and writing about what interests us, anticipating the day we could post it as The Chop in this glossy new home.

Within the confines of this new platform, we will continue to create new content within quarterly Issues, each relating to an overarching theme. Through The Chop, we will offer you a peek into who we are as a studio.

We are dedicating this issue to Islands – imaginary, metaphorical, and literal. Islands are desirable and exiting - isolated ecosystems. Maybe because I grew up on an island, I understand them to be much more complex than just vibrant biomes surrounded by sand and water. Islands have motivated conquests, they have been the subject of wars, and political turmoil. Islands are fascinating for what they have come to represent throughout history – discovery, treasures, adventure, but also isolation, leisure, and freedom.

In a world that celebrates individualism, we ourselves are islands. Design, art, style, and culture are shifting to accommodate for these new ways of living alone, together.
Throughout this issue we will cover a plethora of topics inspired by escapism, isolation, togetherness, edges, and the Island that is Manhattan.

We hope you enjoy the ride.
